Ada (V/R) Sept. 28, GNA-Vodza Iron Breakers of Zone 2, in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, have been crowned champions of the 2025 Ghana Beach Soccer Premier League.
Vodza Iron Breakers of Zone 2 secured a resounding 4-1 victory over Sea Sharks of Zone 1 in the grand finale played at the Ada Beach Soccer Arena.
The win marks a historic moment for the Volta Region-based club as well as for Zone 2, as the Vodza Iron Breakers becomes the third Zone 2 team to have won the national title, in third consecutive time which further demonstrated their dominance in Ghana Beach Soccer.
From the blast of the whistle, Vodza Iron Breakers showed clear intent, with their attacking flair, quick passing and experience on the sand proving too much for Sea Sharks, who struggled to contain the relentless pressure mounted by the Keta-based club.
Mr Mawuli Joshua Kukuia, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vodza Iron Breakers, disclosed to the Ghana News Agency, that despite putting up a spirited fight in the first period, Sea Sharks could not match the firepower which led to a 2-0 at the end of the opening period with extension to 4-1 advantage by the final whistle to lift the coveted trophy.
“This victory and jubilation among fans from Vodza and Keta who had travelled to Ada in their numbers to cheer us to glory is not remarkable. We did this together, and congratulations to the playing body, coaches and every fan,” he said.
He expressed satisfaction and thanked all corporate organisations, philanthropists and individuals who supported the team throughout the challenging and difficult season.
Mr Kukuia further applauded the executives of the teams for their constant and continuous training, and urged players selected for the national team Black Sharks to work harder and rise the flag of Ghana higher against the Super Sand Eagles of Nigeria in the Beach-Soccer AFCON qualifiers.
He said: “We are dedicating this trophy to the people of Keta and the entire Volta Region. This triumph is a motivation to continue developing beach soccer talent in the area; we hope for more successes after this historic performance.”
He pledged that the team would capitalise on the trophy won, defend it the next season and make history among the top-ranked beach soccer clubs across both zone one and two as well as the entire country.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) further gathered that in an individual triumph that completed a perfect day for Vodza, prolific striker Wise Nyamadi was crowned the Top Scorer of Zone 2, after netting a hat-trick in the final to cap off a remarkable campaign.
Nyamadi, who also plies his trade as a striker for National Beach Soccer Team, the Black Sharks, was in lethal form throughout the season, finishing as the zone’s highest goal scorer and reaffirming his status as one of the finest attackers on sand in the country.
Leadership of Sea Sharks of Zone 1, said that the loss was a painful defeat in the final, although their journey to the grand finale remains commendable and a testament to their competitiveness throughout the season.
Some fans said that the 2025 Beach Soccer Premier League finals which was delayed for closed to ten months has once again showcased the steady growth of beach soccer in the country, with Zone 2 now firmly establishing itself as the powerhouse of the sport at the national level.
Stakeholders of the sport have commended the organisers for a challenging but successful season and expressed optimism that the competitive standards on display would translate into improved fortunes for the senior national beach soccer teams.
The Vodza Iron Breakers, who won the trophy for the first time in history, would now turn to how the club and other Zone 2 sides would build on this success to continue producing talent for beach soccer development at both club and national levels.
