Bolgatanga, Sept. 18, GNA – The Upper East Region is set to host the 33rd Annual Conference of the Conference of Directors of Education (CODE) from Monday, October 19 to Friday, October 23, 2026.
The conference, being organised under the theme, “From Policy to Classroom: District Leadership for Quality Learning Outcomes and 21st Century Skills for National Development.”
The conference is expected to attract the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Minister for Education and other high-profile dignitaries.
As part of preparations, the National Executives of CODE, led by Mr Ibrahim Mumuni, its National President, together with some executives of the Upper East Regional branch, paid a courtesy call on Mr Razak Z. Abdul-Korah, the Upper East Regional Director of Education (RDE) in Bolgatanga.
The visit was to brief the Regional Director on the team’s findings following an inspection of facilities and preparations for the conference, as well as highlight key areas that needed attention ahead of the event.
In a statement issued by Mr Nathaniel N-yaaba, the Upper East Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, said Mr Mumuni expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness of the region and declared it was ready to host the conference.
“After inspecting the facilities, UER is ready to host this year’s conference,” he said.
The statement said Mr Abdul-Korah welcomed the CODE delegation and thanked them for the visit and the confidence reposed in the region.
He assured the delegation that Management of the Regional Education Directorate would work assiduously to ensure a successful hosting of the conference.
“We will work assiduously and to the best of our ability to ensure that the Region hosts it well,” he assured.
The Regional Director added that the region would seek to improve on the standards set during the 2023 CODE Annual Conference hosted by the Upper West Region.
The statement said a key issue identified during the engagement was the need for sponsorship, with CODE expected to mobilise support from businesses and other corporate stakeholders within the Region to successfully host the conference.
The expected participation of businesses was also seen as an opportunity for local enterprises to showcase their products and services to the delegates and visitors expected in the region.
It said the hosting of the conference is expected to provide the Upper East Region with an opportunity to showcase its hospitality, culture, tourism and economic potential to a national audience.
“With effective organization and the expected influx of delegates, businesses across the region, particularly those in the smock industry, craft production and the guinea fowl value chain, could benefit significantly from the conference,” it said.
Delegates are expected to have the opportunity to visit some of the Region’s tourist attractions, including the Paga Crocodile Pond and Pikworo Slave Camp in the Kassens-Nankana West District, the Tenzug Shrine in the Talensi District, and the Tono and Vea Dams in the Kassens-Nankana Municipal and Bongo District respectively.
