Kumasi, Sept. 23, GNA — The Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC) has shut down M. Y Caesar Company Limited, a popular herbal medicine and diagnostic facility in Kumasi, for failing to renew its license for the past three years.
The facility, popularly known as Dr Caesar’s, provides its clients with diagnostic services, consultations, and the administration of herbal remedies, including herbal tea and dietary supplements formulated to support digestion and address specific health conditions.
The closure comes after the Council reported that management failed to comply with regulatory directives, despite being granted sufficient time to renew its license.
Management expressed surprise when a TMPC enforcement team sealed the facility during a regulatory exercise on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
Mr Divine Ajiraku, a Regulatory Officer of the TMPC, stated that, the facility had continued operations for three years without renewing its license, contrary to Act 575.
He noted that, the law required traditional medicine practitioners to obtain a TMPC license and renew it annually before they were permitted to practice.
He said the Council had visited the facility some weeks earlier and provided ample time for management to regularise its documentation, but no action was taken, leading to the enforcement action.
Mr Ajiraku added that, the Council would send a letter to the facility directing management to report to its offices and complete the necessary procedures before the facility could be reopened.
He indicated that, for now, no arrests have been made.
In a related development, the proprietor of the Asempa facility, earlier shut down by the Council, has been invited by the police for questioning following allegations that the padlocks used to secure the facility were vandalised and the premises reopened for operation.
The exercise forms part of the Council’s continuing efforts to curb the activities of unlicensed traditional medicine practitioners.
Meanwhile, attempts by the GNA to reach the management of both facilities for comment proved unsuccessful.
