Accra, Sept. 1, GNA – The South East Ghana Union Mission (SEGUM) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church has mobilised more than 170 pastors, elders, departmental directors, field presidents, content creators and other church leaders ahead of the global launch of OneVoice27.
The mobilisation formed part of an online orientation organised by the SEGUM Communication Department in collaboration with the Union leadership to prepare church leaders for the digital evangelism initiative, which is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026.
A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency by Pastor Dr Samuel K. Dorgbetor, Communication Director of SEGUM, said the orientation brought together leaders from across the Union to deepen their understanding of the initiative and equip them to actively participate in the global campaign.
OneVoice27, under the theme “Hope Starts Here – Your Device. Your Voice. His Mission,” is a global digital evangelism initiative that seeks to encourage every church member to use digital platforms to share the gospel.
The statement said the initiative commemorated the 2,000th anniversary of the baptism of Jesus Christ in 2027 and represented a major step in the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s efforts to use media and digital technology for evangelism.
Pastor Abraham Bakari, the Communication Director of the West-Central Africa Division (WAD), who served as a resource person for the orientation, presented the Church’s media and communication strategy for OneVoice27.
He highlighted the evolution of the Church’s media evangelism efforts, including what was described as NET 1.0, which saw the Church pioneer satellite-based evangelism in the 1990s through ministries such as “It Is Written and the Adventist Television Network (ATN).”
The development eventually contributed to the official launch of Hope Channel on October 10, 2003, as the Church’s 24-hour global television network.
The current phase, described as NET 2.0, represented a shift towards continuous media evangelism through platforms including Hope Channel, Adventist World Radio (AWR) and digital media, to leverage the widespread use of digital platforms to reach billions of people who remain unreached by the gospel.
Pastor Peter T. Agyekum, the SEGUM Director for Evangelism and Personal Ministries, in addressing participants, challenged church members to take personal responsibility for evangelism and identify individuals they could intentionally reach with the message of Christ.
The statement said the three officers leading the SEGUM were Pastor Col. (Rtd) Peter Nyarko Duodu, President; Pastor Dr. Nathan Teye Odonkor, Executive Secretary; and Dr. Isaac Owusu-Dankwa, Treasurer.
SEGUM expressed appreciation to Pastor Bakari, the Union leadership, pastors, elders, field presidents, departmental directors, content creators and all participants for their commitment to the mobilisation exercise.
It reaffirmed its readiness to contribute to the global initiative through media engagement, digital content creation, evangelism and active participation by church members.
The global OneVoice27 launch would be observed by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, divisions, unions, conferences, missions and local churches worldwide.
