Accra, Sept. 21, GNA – Newly elected General Council officials of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, comprising members of the Executive Presbytery and National Departmental Directors and Coordinators, have officially assumed office following a handover ceremony in Accra.
The ceremony marked the climax of a four-day Leadership Prayer and Orientation Retreat held at the denomination’s national headquarters.
Addressing the newly sworn-in officials, the General Superintendent, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, who was overwhelmingly re-elected to office, urged them to remain committed to the church’s Transformation Agenda.
He said the agenda was aimed at aggressively discipling the nation by ensuring that every village, town, and city was reached with the Gospel.
Rev. Wengam explained that the agenda also sought to improve the welfare of pastors, particularly those serving in rural communities, while pursuing extensive human resource and infrastructural development across the church.
He added that the initiative was designed to restore the Pentecostal fervour and spiritual vitality for which the Assemblies of God was known.
The General Superintendent charged the new leaders to demonstrate unwavering commitment to Christ, the church’s leadership, and its established doctrines and constitution.
“There is the need for absolute loyalty to Christ, to leadership, and to the doctrines and constitution of the Assemblies of God, Ghana,” he stated.
The newly inaugurated officers are Rev. Kwadwo Boateng Bempah, Assistant General Superintendent; Rev. Albert Anane, General Secretary; Rev. Mrs. Esther Dwommoh, National Women’s Ministry Director; Rev. Aaron Fant, Home Missions Director; and Rev. Boniface Keelson, Foreign Missions Director.
Also speaking at the ceremony were Rev. Ernest Birikorang, the outgoing General Secretary, and Rev. Godwin Tito Agyei, the outgoing Assistant General Superintendent.
As part of the retreat, participants received training and orientation on key leadership themes, including The Metaphor of the Head, Loyalty as the Key Ingredient to Successful Leadership, and Wisdom for Leaders.
The retreat formed part of efforts by the church to equip its newly elected leaders for effective service and to advance the denomination’s vision and mission nationwide.
