Mpatado (WR), Sept. 25, GNA -Mainstream and Technical education has been touted as key in developing quality human resources for both community and national development.
Parents have therefore been advised to pay attention to their children’s education by making the needed sacrifices capable of guaranteeing a brighter future for the children.
Mr Philip Fiifi Buckman, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwesimintsim said this at the Commissioning of the new Mpatado/Adientiem Primary and Junior High Model School, the first of its kind after many years of the community’s existence.
The project was delivered within schedule by Erit Architectural and construction limited headed by Mr Eric Edem Edzorho, the Chief Executive Officer.
The MP said, “education is the actual legacy; look at me, my father was a government driver and my mother was a seamstress but my father took me to a private school and anytime he paid my school, he had to go for an overdraft.”
The member of Parliament continued that he had become a lawyer today because his parents built in him a legacy no family member could take, unlike the houses and other personal belongings which the family took away after his father’s death.
He praised the unnamed woman who initially conceived the idea of Primary and Junior School and actually broke the grounds for the project but could not complete it.
Mr Buckman promised that he would engage with his network particularly those abroad to furnish the school with a library, ICT centre, infirmary and fencing of the school.
Later, he provided free school uniforms for the new intake.
He added that the one million coders programme would be enhanced within the constituency while, a specialised centre had been created for children with different abilities to have access to education.
Sixteen years on, the children from Mpatado would not battle with flood water, long distance walk and jumping of walls to attend school in nearby communities, Nana Godzie Tsiah VII, the Odikro of Mpatado said.
Mr Majeed Dokurgu, the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Chief Executive said the Municipal was poised to transform public education to march up with any private school in the area.
Madam Ruth Asiraa Yeboah, the Headmistress of the School appreciated the efforts of the MP and the Assembly, saying “we now have light, borehole and school feeding to make our place more conducive, particularly for the lower classes.”
She prayed that a disability friendly access would be created to ensure inclusive development.
