Keta (V/R), Sept. 25, GNA-The Keta Municipality in the Volta Region, has announced the commissioning of two new educational facilities on October 5, as to boost infrastructure in basic schools within the area.
The facilities to be commissioned include a new kindergarten block at Anlo State School and a three-unit classroom block with an accompanying store at Atiavi-Atime.
Mr Wonder Setsoafia Deynu, the Keta Constituency NDC Deputy Communication Officers, disclosed to the Ghana News Agency, that both facilities have been fully furnished with the necessary auxiliaries as well as teaching and learning materials, making it ready for immediate use by pupils and teachers.
“The delivery of the two projects within a year and a half is a significant achievement for education in the area. We are extending an invitation to the public to witness the commissioning to boost education in the area,” he said.
He explained that under the programme outlined for the day, the commissioning at Anlo State School was scheduled to take place at 1000 hours, while the ceremony at Atiavi-Atime is expected to follow at 1400 hours.
He emphasised an invitation would be sent to various stakeholders and the people of Abutiakorpe, Atiavi and the entire Keta Municipality to attend both events and join in celebrating the new additions to the area’s educational infrastructure.
“Mr Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Keta, and Mr Wisdom Seade, Municipal Chief Executive (DCE) for Keta, are among other dignitaries expected to be part of the entourage for the commissioning exercises.”
Mr Deynu said the entire NDC membership, together with constituency and branch executives, would also join the two leaders in extending heartfelt appreciation to the people of Keta Municipality for their support during the 2024 general elections.
He said education stakeholders in the Municipality have, over the years, called for improved infrastructure in schools, particularly in kindergarten and basic school blocks, to create conducive learning environments for young learners, and such facility would solve the challenges faced.
He said completion of the kindergarten block at Anlo State School and the classroom block at Atiavi-Atime is expected to help ease congestion in classrooms and improve the quality of teaching and learning in the affected communities.
Mr Seth Dosu, a resident of the beneficiary communities, has expressed appreciation for the new facilities, and described it as a relief that would directly benefit pupils who had previously studied under difficult conditions.
He said the commissioning exercise on October 5 is expected to bring together government officials, traditional authorities, school children, teachers and residents, as the Keta Municipality marks another milestone in its educational development agenda.
