Bodomase (Ash), Sept. 29, GNA – Mr Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekyere Kumawu, has commissioned a newly constructed four-unit nurses’ quarters at Bodomase in the Ashanti region, to address accommodation challenges facing health workers in the community.
The facility, located close to the Bodomase Health Centre, is expected to provide decent accommodation for nurses and improve their working conditions, while contributing to the delivery of quality and timely healthcare services to residents of Bodomase and surrounding communities.
Mr Anim, speaking at the ceremony, said the project formed part of his commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and supporting health workers across the Sekyere Kumawu Constituency.
He noted that, the lack of suitable accommodation for health workers, particularly in rural communities, could affect staff retention and the availability of healthcare professionals to provide services to residents.
According to him, providing safe and decent accommodation for nurses would help motivate health workers to remain within the communities where they serve and enable them to respond promptly to the healthcare needs of residents.
The MP urged the health authorities and beneficiaries of the facility to develop a strong maintenance culture to protect the investment and ensure that the quarters continued to serve their intended purpose for many years.
The commissioning was attended by traditional leaders, health officials, community members and other stakeholders, who expressed appreciation to the MP for supporting the development of healthcare infrastructure in the area.
Mr. Bismark Amakwaah, District Director of Health Services, expressed gratitude to the MP for providing the accommodation facility for health workers.
He described the project as a timely intervention that would help address some of the accommodation challenges confronting nurses in the area.
Mr. Amakwaah assured the MP that the Ghana Health Service would work with the beneficiaries to maintain the facility and ensure that it was properly managed for the benefit of health workers and the people of Bodomase.
He said improved accommodation would create a more conducive environment for nurses and allow them to focus on providing quality healthcare to patients.
