Big Ada, Sept. 29, GNA — The Jetse Developmental Foundation (JDF) has organised its annual Ada Asafotufiami Quiz Competition at Big Ada to promote knowledge of Ada’s history, Dangme culture and traditions among basic school pupils.
The competition brought together 10 contestants from five basic schools in the Ada area, with each school presenting two contestants. The participating schools were Korpehem D/A Basic School, Pediatorkope D/A Basic School, Nuhalenya D/A Basic School, Caesarekope D/A Basic School and Tojeh D/A Basic School.
The initiative formed part of the foundation’s activities surrounding the 2026 Asafotufiami Festival and sought to use the cultural celebration as an opportunity to encourage young people to learn about and appreciate their heritage.
Master Djangmah William Atter of Caesarekope D/A Basic School emerged as the overall winner and received a brand-new HP laptop, a citation, exercise books and a pack of snacks.
Miss Obubuafo Princess of Nuhalenya D/A Basic School placed second and received a citation, exercise books and a pack of snacks, while Miss Attigah Hannah Dede and Miss Angmaa Mary Abusakie jointly placed third and received citations, exercise books and packs of snacks.
The other six contestants received certificates and 20 exercise books each, while the five teachers who accompanied the participating schools were also presented with packs of snacks.
The competition provided pupils with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of Ada’s history, culture, traditions, and general knowledge, while developing confidence and public speaking skills.
Mrs Christiana Sikayo Kabukuor Osifodoe, Executive Director of the Jetse Developmental Foundation, said initiatives of that nature were important to encouraging children to learn about their heritage while developing their academic abilities.
The competition was organised under the auspices and patronage of His Royal Majesty Jetse Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, the Paramount Chief of Ada.
The foundation said it intended to build on the initiative in subsequent years and encourage more schools and community stakeholders to participate in programmes that promote education and cultural awareness among children.
