Hohoe (V/R), Sept. 15, GNA – Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, Hohoe Member of Parliament (MP), has presented mattresses, chop boxes, pillows and bedsheets to 600 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates to support their transition to second-cycle institutions.
The beneficiaries, who obtained aggregates ranging from six to 23 in the 2026 BECE, have qualified for admission to various second-cycle institutions nationwide.
Speaking at a ceremony, Mr Tsekpo said the achievements of the beneficiaries had made their parents, families and the Constituency proud.
He noted that the BECE was not their final destination but a milestone on the journey towards their dreams and aspirations, adding that as they entered Senior High Schools, expectations and challenges would be greater, but opportunities would also be higher.
He therefore urged them not to give up.
Mr Tsekpo said the donation formed part of the Education Endowment Fund under his Education for All Project, which catered for the provision of educational materials to BECE candidates.
He said 200 students were supported last year in tertiary institutions to pursue various postgraduate and PhD programmes, adding that 350 beneficiaries would be supported this year.
Mr Tsekpo expressed the hope that by the end of his four-year tenure, the Constituency would produce more professionals.
He said plans were advanced to facelift the educational infrastructure in the Constituency through the initiation of new projects and completion of existing ones.
Mr Tsekpo said education thrived in a conducive environment, hence internet connectivity would be completed in the remaining second-cycle institutions in the Constituency to support teaching and learning.
He noted that a 50-unit accommodation facility for teachers would begin in Hohoe this year and subsequently be extended across the Constituency.
Mr Tsekpo added that the materials were locally procured to create jobs for residents.
Mr Victor Kwaku Kovey, Hohoe Municipal Education Director, expressed gratitude to the MP for his generous contribution and urged the beneficiaries to prepare adequately for their second-cycle education and remain studious.
Master Wisdom Kumah of Precious Pearls Preparatory School, Kledzo, a beneficiary, expressed gratitude to the MP for the support and pledged to study hard.
