Tema, Sept. 30, GNA – HEDUCA Awareness C.I.C., a reproductive health advocacy organisation, is set to organise a community empowerment programme in Tema to raise awareness of reproductive and menstrual health conditions affecting women and girls.
The programme, scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the Most Holy Trinity Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Lashibi Estate, Community 20, will be held on the theme: “Empowered Women and Girls, Healthy Generation.”
Mrs Christiana Hansen, Founder and Director of HEDUCA Awareness C.I.C., said the programme was intended to provide an open environment for women, girls and families to discuss reproductive and menstrual health concerns and learn when to seek appropriate medical care.
She said the initiative formed part of HEDUCA’s wider outreach programme in Ghana to take reproductive health education and advocacy to communities.
Discussions will cover conditions including endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hydrosalpinx, menstrual pain, heavy or abnormal bleeding, and fertility-related concerns.
Mrs Hansen said participants would also be educated on how to recognise warning signs and understand the emotional and psychological effects of some reproductive health conditions on women and girls.
Dr Risch Addiah-Nkrumah, an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Specialist, is expected to lead discussions on the medical aspects of the programme.
Two women living with reproductive health conditions, Akongzirigo Atizriga Atinganma Talata Helen and Mrs Hansen, will also share their experiences, while Chief Ahn-Zim Wusa Manga will moderate the programme.
Mrs Hansen said men were also encouraged to participate, as fathers, husbands, brothers and partners had important roles to play in supporting women and girls to understand and address reproductive health concerns.
She urged women and girls not to ignore persistent or severe symptoms and encouraged families and communities to promote open discussions about reproductive health and the need to seek appropriate medical care.
