GTP pays homage to Asantehemma Nana Yaa Akyaa II

Accra, Sept. 17, GNA – Tex Styles Ghana Limited, manufacturers of GTP and Woodin African textiles, has paid courtesy visit to Her Majesty, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, the newly enstooled Queen (Asantehemaa) of the Asante Kingdom.

The visit was to extend felicitation as she assumed leadership as the 15th Queen of the Kingdom.

The Queen was officially introduced in July 2026 after she was enstooled by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in line with customs and traditions.

This follows the death of her predecessor, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

TexStyles Ghana delegation was led by the Mr Kwesi Baiden, Head of Sales and the Regional Manager for Kumasi and some key distributors in Kumasi.

“As a brand deeply rooted in African heritage, GTP remains committed to celebrating and supporting the institutions, traditions and people who keep our culture alive,”  said in a release shared with the Ghana News Agency.

“We wish Her Majesty a successful reign filled with wisdom, strength and meaningful service to the Asante Kingdom and Ghana.”

Early this month, TexStyles Ghana Limited announced the purchase of the total shareholding of Vlisco BV in TexStyles Ghana Limited, together with the Woodin brand, by Olive Africa Partners Fashions Limited, a wholly Ghanaian-owned investment company.

The investment company, represented by its co-founding partners, Mr Kofi Kwakwa and Mr John Gadzi, would guide the company’s next phase of growth and development, while TexStyles continued to operate under its current management structure.

The new owners said the transaction included the transfer of trademarks associated with the GTP and Woodin brands.

The acquisition was described as a strategic investment in Ghana’s textile sector and an indication of the new owners’ confidence in the industry and its long-term growth prospects.

Known for their distinctive designs, creative patterns and strong Ghanaian identity, GTP and Woodin fabrics have earned enduring popularity among consumers, with their colours, motifs and contemporary interpretations of African aesthetics making them recognisable brands in Ghana and beyond.

Their appeal has extended across generations and into different aspects of fashion and cultural expression, contributing to their authenticity and enduring place in the region’s textile landscape.
