Accra, Sept. 21, GNA – The Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) on Saturday held a free health screening exercise for residents of Adabraka as part of its annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
The exercise, held at the Graphic Clinic, saw hundreds of residents troop to the centre for the screening from the 0800 hours through to the evening.
Among the services offered were general medical consultation, eye screening, dental screening, full blood count, and testing for malaria, fasting blood sugar, and hepatitis.
The National Health Insurance cards were renewed for participants, with priority given to persons aged 70 years and above, children under 16, and persons with disability (PWDs).
Madam Mavis Kyerewaa Asiamah Wiafe, Acting Communications Manager of GCGL, said the exercise formed part of the company’s efforts to give back to the Adabraka Community.
It was also meant to help strengthen the relationship between GCGL and the community, she said.
“We are happy to bring this programme to the community once again. This is the 20th edition and it always allows us to give back to the communities that support us,” she said, expressing the hope that the exercise would be extended to other communities.
Dr Kweku Essilfe Arhin, a Medical Officer at the Graphic Clinic, advised the participants to prioritise regular medical checkups and not wait to fall sick before they did so.
He also urged them to adopt healthy lifestyles including exercising, brisk walking and eating healthy, which reduced their risk of acquiring common diseases.
“The sedentary lifestyle that we are always engaged in, like always seating, always moving in a car, these things would not help us,” he added.
The programme sponsors include Gokal Healthy Options, Serepa Dental Clinic, Synlab Group Ghana, Top-Up Pharmacy, Bedita Pharmacy, Dampong Healthcare, Unicom Chemist, Bel-Aqua, Ernest Chemists, MC&P, and Phyto Riker.
