Ghana coach Queiroz names 21-man squad for 2027 AFCON qualifiers double-header

Accra, Sept. 18, GNA – Black Stars Head Coach, Carlos Queiroz, has named a 21-man squad for Ghana’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia. 

The squad, which combines experienced players with some emerging talents, is expected to begin preparations ahead of the crucial international assignments. 

Ghana would first travel to Bouaké to face Côte d’Ivoire on September 24, before hosting The Gambia in Accra on September 29. 

The Black Stars would then round off the international window with a friendly against Morocco in Tangier on October 4, 2026. 

The return of experienced players alongside younger talents gives the squad a blend of familiarity and fresh energy as Ghana prepares for the three matches.

Goalkeepers: Benjamin Asare, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Joseph Anang 

Defenders: Gideon Mensah, Baba Rahman, Jan Gyamerah, Derrick Luckassen, Nathaniel Adjei, Jerome Opoku, Kojo Oppong Peprah, Alexander Djiku. 

Midfielders: Kwasi Sibo, Caleb Yirenkyi, Augustine Boakye, Ronald Donkor, Ibrahim Sulemana.
