Accra, Sept. 21, GNA – The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed former Ghana international Godwin Attram as assistant coach of the Black Stars as part of a technical restructuring ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Attram replaces Desmond Ofei, who according to the GFA would focus exclusively on his role as head coach of Ghana’s U-23 side, the Black Meteors.
The former Black Stars midfielder joins the senior national team technical bench with experience gained as both a player and coach.
Attram, who played for Dutch side PSV Eindhoven and Danish club Silkeborg IF during his career, previously served as head coach of Accra Great Olympics and has also worked within Ghana’s national youth team structures.
The GFA said his appointment forms part of efforts to strengthen the technical team ahead of Ghana’s upcoming international engagements, including the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
Attram’s appointment comes days after Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz named a 21-man squad for Ghana’s upcoming AFCON qualifying matches against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
Ghana would travel to Bouaké to face Côte d’Ivoire on September 24 before hosting The Gambia in Accra on September 29, 2026.
The Black Stars would then play Morocco in an international friendly in Tangier on October 4, 2026.
