Dambai (O/R), Sept. 26, GNA – The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Dambai District, in collaboration with the District Management, has commemorated the Founders’ Day in Ghana with staff wellness activities, friendly sporting competitions, stakeholder engagement and public education in Dambai.
The programme brought together staff of ECG Dambai District, the Krachi East Municipal Assembly (KEMA), the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Among the dignitaries who attended were Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, Oti Regional Minister; Mr Safo Nketia, Municipal Chief Executive for Krachi East; Mr Latif Oyekune, Deputy Director; and ADO I Samuel Anann, GNFS Municipal Commander.
The programme commenced with a float through the principal streets of Dambai to create awareness about Founders’ Day and the activities organised to commemorate the occasion.
The float also provided ECG with an opportunity to engage residents on responsible electricity use and other customer-related issues.
The celebration continued with a series of fun games involving staff of the participating institutions, aimed at promoting team spirit, wellness, institutional collaboration and social interaction.
Mr Gyapong commended ECG for organising the programme and bringing together various institutions for a day of recreation, education and interaction.
He expressed appreciation to ECG staff for their work in the region and noted the recognition the Company received during the May Day celebrations.
According to him, the award was an indication of ECG’s hard work and contribution to national development, which also helped to project the name of the Oti Region.
The Regional Minister assured ECG of his continued support and said he would honour invitations to the Company’s programmes whenever possible.
He also used the occasion to speak about the upcoming Big Push Project and Rural Electrification launch by the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, urging electricity consumers to pay their bills promptly and support the development and sustainability of the electricity sector.
Madam Irene Mary Odame, the ECG Dambai District Manager, said the programme was organised to foster team spirit and promote staff wellness.
She said it also provided an informal platform for ECG to engage staff, customers and other stakeholders while educating them on important electricity-related matters.
Madam Odame emphasised that such activities helped strengthen relationships among public institutions and created opportunities for collaboration beyond the formal work environment.
In a solidarity message, ADO I Samuel Anann, GNFS Municipal Commander, commended ECG for the initiative and pledged the Service’s continued participation in similar programmes.
He said bringing public institutions together helped promote teamwork and provided an avenue for sharing important information with the public.
The sporting activities featured both indoor games and football.
In the indoor games, ECG won Spar and Oware, while the GNFS won Draft and Ludo.
The football competition also formed part of the activities, providing staff of the participating institutions an opportunity to interact, compete and strengthen institutional bonds.
The celebration ended with renewed emphasis on staff wellness, public education and collaboration among institutions in the Oti Region.
