Accra, Sept. 23, GNA – There was drama at the Court Complex when a female official of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) attempted to invite Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, to the office.
The EOCO official was seen speaking to the MP before he walked to his black vehicle parked at the court premises and drove off.
As the vehicle moved off, the EOCO official attempted to forcibly open the vehicle’s door to arrest the MP, nearly getting her foot run over in the process.
The official subsequently joined a white vehicle and left the court premises.
Journalists later gathered that the EOCO official had gone to the court to invite the MP to the Office.
The MP reportedly turned down the invitation and drove to Parliament, where he later held a press conference.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah had gone to the court to seek bail for Salomey Awiti Bafoh, a nurse who was remanded by the Adentan Circuit Court for two weeks for allegedly abetting a UK-based TikToker, known as Ghana Jollof, to publish false news intended to cause fear and panic.
Meanwhile, the High Court has adjourned the bail application of Bafoh to September 24, 2026.
The adjournment followed a request by Karl Afadze Forson, an Assistant State Attorney (ASA), who told the court that the State had been short-served with the bail application and needed time to respond.
The ASA said: “I am not the substantive attorney in this matter and I was just informed that the office was served with a pending bail application on Friday, September 18, 2026.”
“As we are aware, Monday was also a holiday, so the application had not been assigned to a substantive attorney at the moment. In the circumstances, we pray for a short adjournment so that we can respond formally to this application.”
Nana Baffour Awuah, however, told the court that the matter involved the liberty of the accused person.
He noted that there was proof of service of the bail application on the Office of the Attorney-General.
