Kadjebi (O/R), Sept. 23, GNA – Mr Michael Zowonu, Assemblyman for the Dodo-Amanfrom South Electoral Area in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region, has filed his nomination to contest the Akan Constituency Secretary position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr Zowonu, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview, said his decision was motivated by the need to improve the dissemination of party directives and information at all levels of the constituency.
He said effective communication was essential to ensuring that party members and executives received timely information and understood directives from the national and regional leadership.
“I am contesting to create a strong communication link between the national, regional, constituency and branch levels,” he said.
Mr Zowonu, who is also the Kadjebi District Culture Coordinator of the Ghana Education Service (GES), said he would prioritise effective coordination and communication among the various structures of the party if elected.
He said he would also introduce proper and effective record-keeping practices to strengthen the administration of the constituency.
According to him, accurate records were important for institutional memory, accountability, and effective management of party activities.
Mr Zowonu, who also serves as Secretary to the Board of Reformer Cooperative Credit Union, said his experience in administration and organisational management had equipped him with skills that could contribute to the effective running of the constituency secretariat.
He called on delegates to consider his vision and experience and support his bid to serve the party.
The contest is between Mr Zowonu and Mr Isaac Abavon, the incumbent Constituency Secretary, who is seeking to retain the position for a third term.
Mr Zowonu said his campaign would focus on strengthening internal communication, improving documentation, and ensuring that party information reached members at the grassroots level in a timely manner.
The Akan Constituency is one of the constituencies in the Oti Region.
