Sofia, Sept 13 (BTA/GNA) – Bulgaria plans to tighten security at strategic and potentially hazardous sites, Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev said in a radio interview on Sunday. A meeting with Prime Minister Rumen Radev is planned for next week to draw up specific measures, Demerdzhiev said.
He spoke on Bulgarian National Radio about explosions at two ammunition depots in Bulgaria over the past month, the cause of which is still under investigation. Both are operated by weapons manufacturing company EMCO.
Referring to similar incidents in Bulgaria in recent years, Demerdzhiev said other countries also faced difficulties solving such cases. Investigators were pursuing all lines of inquiry and comparing the two incidents in Gabrovo Region, he added.
The authorities would take a series of measures to prevent similar incidents in the future, he said.
