Twifo- 34 (C/R), Sept 22, GNA- Nene Agyatey Aklo III, the Chief of Twifo-34 in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region, has called on the government to recruit more teachers for Twifo Thirty-Four D/A Basic School.
According to him, constructing classroom blocks without providing enough teachers defeats the purpose of improving education.
He made the appeal during the commissioning of a three-unit classroom block constructed for the Twifo-34 D/A Basic School through a partnership between Okra Projects and the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Assembly.
Nene Agyatey Aklo said the school currently had only four government teachers, with the remaining being community teachers whose services were financed by the community.
He appealed to the government to recruit and post more teachers to the school to ensure that pupils benefited fully from the newly constructed classrooms
The leaders of Okra Projects, Mr Cyprus Nii Sackey and Nana Otosi Otubea Amoah I, Dabrehemaa of the Agona-Nsaba Traditional Council, urged the community to take proper care of the facility.
They encouraged residents to undertake regular maintenance to prolong the lifespan of the classrooms and ensure that future generations continued to benefit from the project.
Mr Isaac Yawson, the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Chief Executive, said a conducive learning environment was essential for improving teaching and learning outcomes.
He explained that following the partnership between the District Assembly and Okra Projects, the Assembly had also furnished the school with mono desks.
Mr Yawson assured other communities in the district to remain patient as the Assembly continued working with development partners to provide quality classroom facilities and other educational infrastructure where needed.
