Dambai (O/R), Sept. 22, GNA – Women in Bowiri Anyinase in the Biakoye Constituency of the Oti Region have received bakery equipment from the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Madam Jean-Marie Formadi, to enhance their livelihoods and economic empowerment.
The initiative is aimed at providing the women with the tools needed to establish a sustainable bakery business, create employment and generate income to support their families.
Presenting the equipment, Madam Formadi said women played an important role in community development and needed access to skills and economic opportunities to enable them to contribute meaningfully to household and local economic development.
She said the support would offer the beneficiaries an opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills and establish a viable source of income.
“The bakery items donated will not only create a source of income for our mothers and sisters but will also contribute to the local economy. With the ability to produce for consumption, they can feed their families and supply the entire district and beyond,” she added.
The MP said economically empowering women could strengthen household incomes and create opportunities for them to become more self-reliant.
Nana Yaa Asiedua I, Ankobeahemaa of Bowiri Anyinase, who received the equipment on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed appreciation to the MP for the support and other interventions aimed at improving the well-being of residents.
She said the initiative would encourage women and young girls in the community to acquire skills and pursue opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
Nana Asiedua, however, appealed to the Government, development partners and other stakeholders to provide the community with potable water and other essential infrastructure.
She said improved access to basic amenities and economic opportunities would create an enabling environment for businesses and help attract investment to the area.
The Queenmother said women’s empowerment should be treated as a sustained development priority, requiring collaboration among the Government, traditional authorities, private sector and communities.
She expressed the hope that the bakery initiative would be effectively managed and developed into a sustainable enterprise that would benefit the participating women and the wider community.
