Accra, Sept. 30, GNA – The Amen Amen Institute has donated GH¢10,000 to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) to support the 2026 World Food Day (WFD) celebration.
The annual donation was presented to the Ministry by Mr Daniel Reynolds, a member of the Institute, on behalf of Mr Amen Amenreynolds Amen, the Founder and Leader of The Amen Amen Institute.
The donation is intended to support activities by MoFA and its partners, including the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), towards the celebration.
The World Food Day, celebrated annually on October 16, serves as a global platform to spotlight collective actions and progress in building sustainable food systems.
Mr Reynolds, speaking on behalf of the Institute’s Founder and Leader at the donation, said the organisation would continue to support initiatives aimed at promoting food security and agriculture.
He also announced plans for the Institute to organise a float and walk on October 16, beginning from Mantse Agbonaa through the Atta Mills High Street to the Forecourt of the MoFA.
Mr Reynolds encouraged the public, particularly the youth, to embrace innovation and explore new and improved approaches to farming and agriculture.
He said innovative practices could help increase agricultural productivity and ensure that food produced today would contribute to nourishing future generations.
Mr Eric Opoku, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, who received the donation on behalf of the Ministry, expressed appreciation to the Institute for its continued support towards the annual WFD activities.
“We want to express our appreciation to you for being supportive to us at all times,” he said, recalling the Institute’s participation in last year’s celebration.
He said the support would contribute to efforts to make the celebration meaningful and beneficial to Ghanaian farmers.
Mr Opoku said the Ministry would hand over the donation to the committee organising this year’s World Food Day celebration, assuring the donors that Ghanaian farmers would ultimately benefit from the support.
“Every pesewa of this donation will go into the organisation and make it memorable and eventful,” he stressed.
The Minister said Ghana had the natural resources required to produce enough food to feed its population but acknowledged the need for renewed efforts to improve agricultural production and food self-sufficiency.
He said the Government, in collaboration with stakeholders and partners, was working to reverse the challenges affecting food production.
Mr Opoku thanked the Institute for partnering with the Ministry and expressed optimism that sustained collaboration and support would contribute to Ghana’s efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency.
The 2026 World Food Day will be celebrated globally on the theme: “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow.”
