Adaklu Vodze (V/R), Sept. 28, GNA – Mr Mac-Peter Dumatonu, the Adaklu District Director of Education on Saturday disclosed that the Directorate in collaboration with the Adaklu District Assembly has formed a monitoring and supervision committee to help check teacher absenteeism and lateness in the district.
He said the team would also monitor their output.
Mr Dumatonu disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines of the commissioning of a three-unit classroom block for the Adaklu Vodze District Assembly Basic School.
The classroom block, which also has a staff common room, a store and an office, was started in 2022 but was completed by the Assembly this year with its share of the District Assemblies Common Fund.
Mr Dumatonu stated that the team would randomly check attendance registers and lesson notes of the teachers.
He therefore warned that teachers caught in the “web” of those acts would not be spared.
Mr Jerry Yao Ameko, the Adaklu District Chief Executive, speaking at the commissioning ceremony warned teachers who used school contact hours for their personal businesses to desist from that “unpatriotic act.”
“Some teachers in the district are using school hours for their personal jobs to the disadvantage of their core mandates,” he alleged.
Mr Ameko said he would not allow such teachers to “sacrifice the future of Adaklu with their self-seeking interests.”
“The District Assembly would not compromise on that act,” he warned.
The DCE urged the District Director of Education and his team to intensify their monitoring and supervision of the output of teachers so as to improve upon teaching and learning in schools in the district.
He noted that the classroom blocks being put up in the district were investments being made in the human resource development of the future of Adaklu.
Mr Ameko urged all stakeholders in education in the district to collaborate to arrest the fallen standard of education in the district.
“Let us complement the efforts of one another other and eliminate unnecessary rivalry and competition so as to improve teaching and learning in our schools,” he stated.
The DCE reiterated his call on parents to support their children’s education by providing their educational needs and also protecting them from harm.
He encouraged the pupils to be obedient both at home and school and pursue their dream careers through education.
