Fiapre (Bono), Aug. 29, GNA – The Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLAT) Ghana, the women’s wing of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), has inaugurated its Bono Regional Branch.
The 15-member branch was inaugurated during the 2026 Logistics and Transport Conference and Annual General Meeting of CILT held at Fiapre near Sunyani.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the inauguration, Madam Mabel Kabutey, National Chairperson of WiLAT Ghana, said women played an integral role in advancing the nation’s transport and logistics sector.
The inauguration was held on the theme: “Empowering Women, Transforming Transport and Logistics: Leadership, Advocacy and Sustainability.”
Madam Kabutey said WiLAT was established to encourage women to aspire to leadership positions and remain at the forefront of decision-making in the transport and logistics industry.
She expressed optimism that the Bono Regional Branch would help increase membership through networking and professional development opportunities.
Madam Kabutey said WiLAT remained committed to driving innovation in leadership and mentoring the next generation of women professionals in the sector.
She noted that WiLAT Ghana was expanding its presence across the country in response to the evolving logistics and transport industry.
“Women too have the requisite skills, ideas, and energy to lead the logistics and transport sector transformation agenda in the country,” she stated.
Madam Kabutey said WiLAT had established a presence in more than 40 countries worldwide, with a membership of over 3,500, contributing significantly to societal development.
She said WiLAT Ghana had donated 15 bicycles to female nurses in the Ga East and Ga West Municipalities to support their work.
Between 2023 and 2025, the organisation successfully conducted breast cancer awareness and screening programmes at the International Maritime Hospital (ImaH), she added.
Madam Kabutey further stated that WiLAT Ghana had been supporting university students to establish branches on their campuses and providing guidance for their activities.
