Accra, Aug. 5, GNA – The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Board is meeting to consider concerns raised over the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.
The meeting follows allegations by the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) that private schools were disadvantaged in the release of this year’s BECE results.
A source close to the Council told the Ghana News Agency that the Board was in a meeting and would issue a statement on the matter.
Meanwhile, Mr John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, has rejected the GNACOPS claims, stating that the Council does not distinguish between candidates from private and public schools during the assessment and marking of examination scripts.
GNACOPS has called for an independent review of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), alleging unfair marking.
