Banda-Kanka, (Bono), Aug 31, GNA – A 60-year-old transport operator, Alhaji Abdallah Ibn Abdallah was at the weekend enstooled as the Chief of Banda Kanka, a predominantly Muslim community in the Banda District of Bono Region.Â
The colourful event which took place at the Banda Kanka attracted Muslim leaders drawn across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Alhaji Omar Adam, the Deputy Wenchi Municipal Chief Imam, called on the newly enstooled chief to serve in humility and prioritized the welfare of the less privileged in the area.
“Remember that power doesn’t belong to you, but you are only appointed as a successor on earth to execute Allah’s mandate and to protect the weak”, he advised, and urged him to remain truthful.
Alhaji Adam noted that: “A ruler’s greatest downfall is following personal emotions and greed which distorts truth and leads a leader astray from the path of righteousness”.
He also advised the chief to prioritize development by uniting his subjects and to initiate self-help development projects that would better the lot of the people.
Okyeame Kwaku Borami II, the Chief Linguist at Banda Kabrono also advised the newly enstooled chief to work hard and to sustain the prevailing peace in the area for development to thrive.
He called on the people to rally solidly behind their chief towards facilitating the holistic development of the community.
On his part, Alhaji Abdallah, the newly enstooled chief, expressed appreciation to the people for their support and expressed the hope that they would sustain that support for development purposes.
He advised people to keep their surroundings always clean and entreated families to facilitate the proper upbringing and development of their children.
Alhaji Abdallah admonished the youth to guard against acts of lawlessness and remain law abiding, while participating actively in communal activities.
