Accra, Aug. 29, GNA -Stakeholders in Ghana’s social protection sector have validated a new roadmap aimed at improving how government, donors, and civil society can work together to deliver services.
At a workshop convened in Accra by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, stakeholders reviewed, validated, and built consensus on the proposed framework, as well as strengthened the coordination of social protection interventions in Ghana.
It featured, among other things, plenary discussions where stakeholders made inputs to strengthen implementation.
Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the sector minister, in a speech read on her behalf, said stronger coordination was the missing link in Ghana’s social protection efforts.
“While Ghana has made significant progress in implementing various social protection programmes, stronger institutional coordination remains essential to maximising impact and improve service delivery,” she stated.
Dr Lartey explained that the framework would clarify institutional roles, create a structured platform for stakeholder engagement, and strengthen accountability across the sector.
She added that the Government remained committed to strengthening social protection as a catalyst for inclusive growth, social justice, and sustainable national development.
She urged participants to provide practical recommendations that would ensure the framework worked on the ground.
Dr Esther Ofei-Aboagye, Social Protection Consultant, presented the draft framework to participants.
The validated framework will serve as a strategic guide for strengthening coordination, collaboration, and complementarity in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of social protection interventions across Ghana.
