Accra, Aug. 2, GNA – Organisers of ShattaFest UK have cancelled the event following what they described as a serious incident outside the venue that reportedly resulted in injuries.
In a statement issued after the cancellation, organisers said the decision was taken with the safety and well-being of patrons as the foremost priority.
“It is with a very heavy heart that we address the unfortunate events surrounding ShattaFest UK.
“Our hearts are with everyone who has been affected by this tragic situation,” the statement said.
ShattaFest UK, headlined by Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, was expected to bring together fans for a celebration of music and entertainment.
However, organisers said the event was called off after reports emerged of the incident outside the venue.
“Every performance is built on bringing joy, hope and unforgettable memories to the fans who have supported him throughout the years. To know that what was meant to be a night of celebration has become a moment of pain is truly devastating,” it said.
Organisers urged the public and the media to refrain from speculation while investigations are conducted by the appropriate authorities.
“We trust that the truth will be established through the proper processes, and we encourage everyone to rely on verified information,” the statement said.
They also expressed appreciation to emergency services, security personnel, medical teams and venue staff who responded to the incident and assisted those affected.
The organisers thanked fans who had travelled from different locations to attend the event and appealed for patience and understanding during what they described as an extremely difficult period.
According to the statement, Shatta Wale and the wider Shatta Movement family would cooperate fully with authorities and event partners as efforts continue to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
