Accra, Aug. 10, GNA – Police have arrested two brothers over the alleged murder of a 54-year-old man and shooting of his wife at Tuba, near Weija.
The suspects, identified as Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon, were arrested with assistance from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET).
A police statement signed by Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, Accra Region, said the incident occurred on Aug. 6, 2026, after the Weija Police received information that a man and his wife had been shot at Beach Drive Estate and required assistance.
A police team proceeded to the scene and found Mohammed Rahman, 54, and his wife, Christiana Fosu, 53, with gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment.
The victims were conveyed to Finney Hospital, Weija, where Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival.
His wife was subsequently referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment and was responding to treatment, the statement said.
The body of the deceased had been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.
The Police said during interrogation, Adams allegedly admitted to shooting Rahman and his wife.
It said the suspect told investigators that he was motivated by his perception that the deceased had repeatedly described him as “lazy and useless”, which he claimed had affected him mentally.
The Police said Adams subsequently led investigators to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, where a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was retrieved.
The weapon was allegedly concealed beneath the wall drop of Bala, who works with the deceased.
Investigations, the Police said, had established that Adams and Bala resided together in the same room at Tuba.
The Police said Adams further told investigators that the pistol had allegedly been given to him by a friend identified as Gideon.
He subsequently led investigators to Gideon’s residence at Tuba, but he was not found at home.
The Police said efforts were ongoing to locate Gideon to assist with the investigation.
Bala has also been arrested and is assisting the Police with investigations.
