Accra, Aug. 26, GNA—The Appointments Committee of Parliament will hold a public hearing on Thursday, August 27, 2026, to consider President John Dramani Mahama’s nominees for appointment as Ministers and Justices of the Supreme Court.
A memo issued by Mr David Sebastian Damoah, the Director of Media Relations of Parliament Service, to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday said.
The memo said that the vetting will take place at 0900 hours at Committee Rooms 1 and 2, New Administration Block, Parliament House, Accra.
It said five nominees were scheduled to appear before the Committee.
They are Mr Mahama Ayariga, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central, nominated as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, NDC MP for Klottey-Korle, nominated as Minister-designate for Environment, Science and Technology.
The rest are three nominees to the Supreme Court – Justice Sophia Rosetta Obuokuwa Bernasko Essah; Justice Edward Amoako Asante, both Justices of the Court of Appeal; and Mr Anthony Forson Jnr., a private legal practitioner and former President of the Ghana Bar Association.
The public hearing forms part of Parliament’s constitutional mandate to vet and approve persons nominated by the President for ministerial and superior court appointments.
