Sunyani (Bono), Aug. 02, GNA – Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area has expressed his appreciation to the public, as the National House of Chiefs gazettes and recognises him in the House.
“This is to express profound appreciation to everyone whose contribution in diverse ways made this day possible.
Mr Ransford Antwi, a royal of the Boahen Korkor Royal Family, told the media that “the good news is that Odeefour Korkor II has finally been gazetted,” as the rightful occupant of the Sunyani Traditional Stool.
Earlier, scores of people, including chiefs and queens in the Sunyani Traditional Area, had given Odeefour Korkor a rousing welcome when he returned from Accra to Sunyani.
Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital, was turned into a state of joy and ecstasy as the Paramount Chief, clad in all-white African wax print, and accompanied by a convoy, paraded the principal streets of the township.
The euphoria was exciting to behold as the chief waved both hands from his latest black open-top luxury vehicle, amid unending jubilation from his crowded subjects.
“This marks the completion of a project that cost me so much, physically, emotionally, psychologically, spiritually and only God knows,” Mr Antwi, also the Chief Executive Officer of the Sunyani-based Suncity Group of Companies stated.
He sent a special appreciation to Osagyefo Agyemang Badu II, the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, as well as Vice President of the House Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II, the Paramount Chief of the Drobo Traditional Area.
“We also appreciate all members of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs for clearing the path before the final breakthrough,” Mr Antwi stated.
He congratulated the Kwantwiwaa Gate of the Boahen Korkor Royal Family whose sacrifices made the day a reality.
“In fact, for those who don’t know, my name Antwi is derived from the Kwantwiwaa Gate of the Boahen Korkor Royal Family and therefore, there was no way I could have stood neutral in this matter,” he said.
“To the Akosua Dua and Nyantakyiwaa Gates whose efforts did not yield the ultimate dividend this time around, this is the right time to come together as one big family and fight for the city we all love,” Mr Antwi advised.
He added that: “I want to single out my Dagomba in-laws for their amazing support which we shall forever remain grateful for and to my immediate family, and my dearest wife, Safura, you saw everything live and colored. The risks were high, but you were there for us and it was a risk worth taking, regardless of everything.”
Mr Antwi also commended the kingmakers and the entire Sunyani Traditional Council for their hard work, stressing that “Transparency and accountability should always be the order of the day.”
“In fact, in the course of the enstoolment process, I made a lot of admirers whilst attracting a lot of haters as well and I bear no one any grudges believing that we all wanted the best for our city and its time to fight for Sunyani,” he concluded.
