Takoradi, Aug. 02, GNA – The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has endorsed the 6th Inter-Tourism Expo Accra (INTTA) and the 24-Hour Africa Tourism, Agribusiness, Digital Sovereignty and AfCFTA Industrial Acceleration Conference and Investment Programme, slated for October 21 to 23, 2026.
The GTA described the event as a strategic platform that aligned with Ghana’s vision of repositioning the country as a leading tourism, trade, and investment destination.
The landmark event, which would be held at the Ridge Royal Hotel, Cape Coast, in the Central Region, would bring together more than 300 delegates, including business leaders, investors, government officials, tourism stakeholders, and development partners from Ghana, the United States, and other parts of Africa.
A statement issued by the GTA and copied to the Ghana News Agency, commended Inter-Tourism Expo Accra, for creating a continental platform that connected tourism development with investment promotion, industrial growth, technology, agribusiness, and AfCFTA opportunities.
The statement said the Expo supported Ghana’s national agenda of positioning the country as a 24-hour investment economy by creating opportunities to showcase its tourism assets, hospitality sector, cultural heritage, creative industries, destination experiences, and investment-ready projects to global markets.
It noted that the collaboration would contribute significantly to increasing tourism arrivals, strengthen marketing partnerships, attract investment into the tourism sector, and advance Ghana’s ambition of becoming one of Africa’s leading tourism and investment destinations.
It further highlighted key areas of collaboration, including business tourism and investment promotion through tourism projects, and sustainable tourism development through ecotourism, agritourism, and community-based tourism initiatives.
The statement also recognised the introduction of Ghana Day at INTTA 2026, which would provide a national showcase of Ghana’s heritage tourism, regional tourism products, creative economy, cultural experiences, hospitality investment opportunities, and tourism potential.
Speaking on the vision behind this year’s event, Mr Emmanuel Treku, the Convener of Inter Tourism Expo Accra, said the decision to incorporate trade and investment into the platform reflected the need to align tourism development with the government’s broader economic direction of resetting the country’s economy through strategic partnerships, private sector growth, and investment attraction.
“Tourism cannot operate in isolation from the wider economy. The future of destination development depends on our ability to connect tourism with trade, investment, agriculture, technology, infrastructure and industrial transformation.
“INTTA 2026 is designed to create a platform where investors not only hear about Ghana’s opportunities but experience them first-hand and identify areas where they can partner for sustainable growth,” he stated.
Mr Treku explained that the inclusion of the 24-Hour Africa Tourism, Investment and Industrial Acceleration Conference was aimed at creating an environment where investors, government agencies, and businesses could explore practical opportunities across Ghana’s economic sectors.
He said the Expo represented a shift from traditional tourism exhibitions to an investment-focused model that promoted Ghana as a destination for business, capital, and innovation.
