Tamale, Aug 22, GNA – The Northern Regional Police Command has said it has arrested Abdulai Mohammed Saani, aged 27 years, in connection with a provocative TikTok video concerning the death of the late Mion Lana (Paramount Chief of Mion Traditional Area) in the Northern Region.
The Regional Police Command said, “Following the circulation of the video, the Regional Police Intelligence Department in collaboration with the Regional Criminal Investigations Department commenced intelligence-led enquiries to identify the person responsible for its production and dissemination.”
This was contained in a statement issued by the Regional Police Command in Tamale.
The statement said, “The suspect was identified and subsequently traced to Kumbungu where he was arrested on 20th August 2026 and conveyed to the Northern Regional Police Headquarters, Tamale to assist with investigations.”
It said, “Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the production and dissemination of the video as well as the involvement of any other persons connected to the matter.”
It assured members of the public that the Regional Police Command was closely monitoring the situation and would take all lawful measures necessary to maintain peace and public order.
It also urged members of the public to refrain from creating, sharing or circulating unverified and provocative content capable of creating tension or disturbing public peace.
It also encouraged the citizens to rely on verified information from the Police and other competent authorities.
