Klo-Agogo(E/R), Aug 15, GNA – Mr Albert Tetteh Nyakotey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Yilo Krobo, has begun interventions to improve healthcare, education and security infrastructure across key public institutions in the constituency.
The interventions include the handing over of a site for the construction of a medical theatre at the Klo-Agogo Polyclinic, the donation of roofing sheets to support the rehabilitation of the Klo-Agogo Senior High School canteen, and the provision of streetlights to the Yilo Krobo District Hospital.
Mr Nyakotey, who announced the interventions during visits to the beneficiary institutions, said they formed part of his commitment to addressing critical development needs and improving access to essential services in the constituency.
At the Klo-Agogo Polyclinic, the MP formally handed over the project site to the contractor for the construction of the medical theatre.
He indicated that the project, expected to be completed within six months to one year, would strengthen the capacity of the polyclinic to provide surgical services to residents of Klo-Agogo and surrounding communities.
Mr Nyakotey said the theatre would include a surgery room, a doctors’ changing room with washroom, a nurses’ changing room with washroom, an anaesthetists’ changing room with washroom, two recovery rooms, a storeroom and a utility room.
He noted that the facility would reduce the need for residents to travel to other health facilities for surgical care.
“The construction of the theatre is a major step towards improving healthcare delivery in this part of the constituency,” he said, adding that the project would also enhance the ability of health professionals at the polyclinic to attend to patients requiring surgical procedures.
He said he remained committed to supporting interventions that would improve healthcare infrastructure and ensure that constituents had access to quality and timely healthcare.
At the Klo-Agogo Senior High School, the MP donated roofing sheets to support the rehabilitation of the school’s canteen, which was damaged by heavy rains.
He stated that the donation was in response to the needs of the school and was intended to help restore the facility to provide a safe and conducive environment for food preparation and service.
Mr Nyakotey said educational institutions needed adequate infrastructure to support teaching, learning and the general welfare of students.
The MP later visited the Yilo Krobo District Hospital, where he donated streetlights to improve visibility within the hospital compound.
He said the intervention was aimed at improving night-time visibility and enhancing security for patients, health workers and visitors who accessed the facility after dark.
“Adequate lighting is essential to creating a safe environment within health facilities, particularly those that operate around the clock,” he said.
Mr Nyakotey said he would continue to engage institutions and communities in the constituency to identify their pressing needs and explore practical ways of addressing them.
He said the interventions reflected his determination to use his office to support projects that directly affected the lives of constituents and contributed to the development of Yilo Krobo.
