Lambussie (UW/R), Aug. 19, GNA – The Lambussie District Assembly has begun reshaping and gravelling some deplorable roads in the district to improve road connectivity and enhance residents’ safety when using these roads.

The initiative, led by Mr Ireneous Naawulle Basingbie, the District Chief Executive (DCE), would also help improve economic activities in the area by linking the communities to market centres.

They included the roads linking Lambussie town to Lambussie Community Day Senior High School; Muotenge-Hamile; Bulli-Hiitenge, Naawie-Samoa-Gbal; and Kanguol-to Hachagan.

The rest were Hachagan-Bulli; Kohuo township; Gyabvuuri-Zingkognuo; Suke-Nyvil; Hamile township; Dahile Kunta-Dandapruku; and Chum-Suke Roads.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Lambussie, Mr Basingbie said the initiative formed part of his commitment to improving road infrastructure and driving community development in the district.

“I am deeply concerned about the development of my people and worried about the dilapidated nature of our roads, which is affecting almost every aspect of life in the district,” he said.

He explained that the improved road networks in the area would ease the burden on commuters and traders accessing socio-economic services.

It would also help reduce vehicle and motorbike breakdowns caused by bad roads and improve the transportation of farm produce to markets.

Mr Basingbie assured the residents of his determination to make all roads in the district motorable to boost economic activities.

He attributed the interventions in the district to the strong collaboration between the District Assembly and Professor Titus Kofi Beyuo, the Member of Parliament for the area.

The DCE appealed to the people in the district, particularly the traditional leaders and the youth, to continue supporting the Assembly’s development agenda.

He stressed that peace, unity, and collective responsibility were critical to sustaining development in the district, hence the need for them to ensure peace and security prevailed in the district.

Some residents who spoke to the GNA commended the DCE for visible improvements in the road infrastructure and public services.

They expressed optimism that interventions would help improve livelihoods and accelerate the overall development of the district.
