Kadjebi (O/R), Aug. 11, GNA-Mr Anthony K. Ahiable, the Presiding Member of the Kadjebi District Assembly in the Oti Region, has declared his intention to contest the Akan Constituency vice-chairmanship position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He pledged effective and experienced leadership to strengthen the Party at the grassroots.
Mr Ahiable, who is also the Assemblyman for the Wawaso/Wawaboi Electoral Area, said his decision to contest the position was motivated by his desire to contribute to the growth of the Party, strengthen its structures and promote unity among members across the constituency.
He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that his experience as a local government representative and his engagement with constituents had given him an understanding of grassroots concerns and the leadership skills required to serve effectively.
“For effective and experienced leadership, with strong communication, choose Anthony K. Ahiable,” he said, outlining his vision for the position.
Mr Ahiable described himself as a dedicated grassroots leader committed to advocating for every Party member and ensuring that their voices were heard and concerns adequately represented.
He said his leadership would seek to create an environment where members felt valued and encouraged to contribute to the development of the Party.
According to him, unity remained essential to building a stronger and more competitive constituency organisation, stressing the need for members to work together towards a common objective.
He said: “I am committed to advocating for every member, ensuring your voice is heard, your concerns are represented, and everyone feels valued, fostering unity and strengthening the Akan Constituency we want.”
Mr Ahiable said, if given the mandate, he would work closely with the Constituency Chairman, constituency executives, branch executives, electoral area coordinators and other stakeholders to advance the Party’s vision and strengthen its organisational structures.
He expressed readiness to support the Constituency Chairman and provide steady leadership whenever duty called, saying effective collaboration among the various levels of the Party was critical to achieving its objectives.
The Presiding Member said he would also encourage greater participation of members in Party activities, particularly at the grassroots, and promote effective communication between the constituency leadership and members.
He said an open and accessible leadership approach would enable members to express their concerns, share ideas and actively participate in decisions affecting the Party.
Mr Ahiable urged delegates to consider his experience, commitment and dedication to grassroots development when deciding who should occupy the Vice-chairmanship position.
He expressed confidence that his candidature would provide an opportunity for members to unite behind a common vision and work collectively towards building a stronger and victorious Akan Constituency.
He further called on all aspirants, delegates and Party members to conduct the internal elections peacefully and respect the rules governing the process.
Mr Ahiable said a peaceful, transparent and credible internal election would strengthen the Party and enable the constituency to emerge united and focused on its broader political objectives.
He appealed to members to place the collective interest of the NDC above individual interests and work together to build a stronger constituency organisation capable of effectively mobilising and engaging its members.
“Together, let’s build a stronger and victorious Akan Constituency,” he said.
The NDC is expected to elect Constituency Executives in October 2026.
