Accra, Aug. 7, GNA – The Government, through the National Blood Service, has urged Ghanaians to support the “Service to the Soul” nationwide blood drive, scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, to help replenish blood stocks and save lives across the country.
A statement issued by the Presidency said the humanitarian initiative was being organised in memory of the eight national heroes who lost their lives in the helicopter crash of August 6, 2025.
It said the blood donation exercise formed part of activities to honour their service and sacrifice to the nation.
According to the statement, donated blood would help hospitals respond to critical healthcare needs, including supporting mothers during childbirth, accident victims, cancer patients and children with acute infections.
The statement encouraged all eligible donors to visit designated Regional Blood Centres and Blood Collection Units nationwide to participate in the exercise.
It said donation points in the Greater Accra Region would include the Greater Accra Regional Blood Centre at Korle Gonno, Conquerors Chapel at Dansoman, Grace Presbyterian Church at Aplaku, Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Apenkwa and other designated locations.
The Presidency urged the public to take part in the exercise and contribute to saving lives.
“Roll up your sleeves. Save a life today,” the statement said.
