Accra, Aug. 4, GNA – The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has commended the Government for its commitment to maintaining fiscal discipline.
Mr Stephane Miezan, the President of the GNCCI, urged sustained implementation of key economic initiatives to accelerate private sector growth and national development.
Mr Miezan made the remarks at the GNCCI’s Mid-Year Budget Review Seminar in Accra.
The seminar, organised on the Chamber’s National Dialogue Series, brought together business leaders, policymakers, development partners, economists and representatives of the public and private sectors, to assess the country’s economic performance and the implications of the Mid-Year Budget Review for businesses.
He said although the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review painted an encouraging picture of Ghana’s economic recovery, the full benefits of flagship programmes would depend on effective implementation, adequate financing and stronger collaboration with the private sector.
Mr Miezan said the Mid-Year Budget Review reflected significant progress in restoring macroeconomic stability and creating a more predictable business environment capable of supporting investment and long-term growth.
The GNCCI President praised the Government’s deliberate shift from excessive borrowing and spending towards prudent fiscal management, describing it as a positive signal for investor confidence.
He, however, noted that flagship programmes, including the 24-Hour Economy, the Accelerated Export Development Programme, the Big Push, and other industrial and agricultural interventions, were still at their early stages of implementation.
Mr Miezan said their success would largely depend on timely execution, policy consistency, sufficient financing and stronger partnerships between the public and private sectors.
He called on the Government to maintain the momentum by strengthening institutional coordination and deepening structured engagement with businesses, to translate policy initiatives into measurable economic outcomes.
Mr Miezan said the National Dialogue Series formed part of the Chamber’s strategic efforts to facilitate constructive engagement among Government, the private sector, development partners and the public on key economic and business issues.
The platform also advanced evidence-based policy advocacy on behalf of the private sector while promoting informed discussions on national development priorities.
The seminar provided participants with the opportunity to evaluate fiscal policy implementation, assess emerging opportunities and risks, and examine strategies to improve business competitiveness and sustainable economic growth, he said.
Mr Miezan observed that businesses continued to operate in an environment characterised by domestic and global economic uncertainties, making timely, objective and evidence-based economic analysis critical for sound investment and business decisions.
He reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to serving as the voice of Ghana’s private sector by promoting dialogue among Government, industry, academia and the business community to foster inclusive economic growth.
