Accra, Aug. 5, GNA – The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has reconstituted its statutory committees to strengthen governance, administration, professional development and strategic growth.
The move, undertaken by the National Executive in line with Articles 30, 31 and 32 of the Association’s 2004 Constitution, is intended to support the Executive in discharging its responsibilities and advancing the objectives of the Association.
A statement signed by Mr Dominic Hlordzi, General Secretary of the GJA, said the committees comprised seasoned journalists, media managers and experienced professionals whose expertise would help promote professionalism, deepen member engagement and support the implementation of strategic programmes.
The Membership Vetting Committee will be chaired by Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the GJA, with Mr Kissi Yeboah, veteran journalist formerly with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Seth Eyiah, Editor‑in‑Chief of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Mr Peter Ankomah, Editor of the Daily Dispatch, and Ms Nana Yaa Konadu, Presenter with Peace FM, as members.
The Professional Development Committee will be chaired by Mrs Rebecca Ekpe, Vice President of the Association, with Mr Kofi Yeboah, former General Secretary of the GJA and lecturer at Wisconsin International University College, Mr Cliff Ekufful, Assistant Editor of the Ghanaian Times, Mr George Ramsey Benamba, Chief Editor of the Ghana News Agency, and Mr Kweku Owusu Peprah, Head of Joy Brands at the Multimedia Group, as members.
Mr Suleiman Mustapha, Organising Secretary of the GJA, will chair the Social Affairs Committee, with Mr Isaac Owusu Asare, Editor at GBC, Mrs Linda Asante Agyei, former Vice President of the GJA, Mr Isaac Nuamah Yeboah, Editor of the Daily Analyst, and Mrs Maame Efua Mensah, Editor at UTV, as members.
The International Relations Committee will be chaired by Mr Dominic Hlordzi with Mrs Mary Mensah, Foreign Editor at Graphic Communications Group Limited, Mr Zambaga Rufai, Freelance Journalist, Mr Ken Sackey, Deputy News Editor at the Ghana News Agency, and Mr Yaw Obeng Manu, Editor of The Publisher, as members.
Mrs Bertha Badu Agyei, Treasurer of the GJA, will head the Finance and Resource Mobilisation Committee, supported by Mr Charles Benoni Okine, Director of Corporate Affairs and External Relations at the Minerals Income Investment Fund, Mrs Audrey Dekalu, former Treasurer of the GJA, Mr Nii Odartey Lamptey, Senior Manager at GBC, and Mr Michael Ocquaye, Deputy News Editor at Graphic Communications Group Limited.
The statement said the National Executive was confident that the committees’ collective experience and professional expertise would enhance the work of the Association, uphold high professional standards and contribute to the welfare of journalists nationwide.
The committees are expected to be sworn into office on Monday, August 17, 2026, during the 77th Anniversary Lecture and Symposium of the Association at the British Council in Accra.
