Ho-Fiave (V/R), Aug. 24, GNA – Reverend Elias Kwame Atsu Kumashie, the Sokode-Lokoe District Pastor of The Church of Pentecost, has urged Christians to give their very best to God, regardless of their circumstances.
He said believers should not lose hope when faced with difficult situations but remain committed to God, trusting that He had greater blessings and purposes in store for them.
Rev. Kumashie made the call during a Sunday church service sermon on the topic, “Give Your Very Best to God,” at the Fiave Central Assembly of The Church of Pentecost in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region.
He cited the widow of Zarephath as an example of someone who gave despite her difficult circumstances.
Referring to 1 Kings 17:10-16, he said the widow had only a small amount of flour and oil left to prepare a final meal for herself and her son, but she obeyed the instruction of Prophet Elijah and offered what she had.
He said God subsequently sustained the widow and her household throughout the period of famine, demonstrating that obedience and faith could attract divine provision.
Rev. Kumashie also cited 1 Chronicles 29:3-5, saying King David and the people willingly offered their valuable possessions towards the building of a house for God.
He urged Christians to make God their priority in every situation and to be willing to sacrifice for His work.
“Make sure you attend to God first in every situation. In every sacrifice you make, always remember God first,” he said.
Pastor Kumashie further cited the example of the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4:8-17, who showed hospitality to Prophet Elisha, saying her generosity was rewarded by God.
He encouraged Christians to remain humble and faithful in the service of God, assuring them that God could use anyone, including those who considered themselves unworthy, for His work.
He also urged Christians to avoid the attitude of Ananias and Sapphira, as recorded in Acts 4:36-37, and instead give sincerely and wholeheartedly to God.
Pastor Kumashie said the Word of God was practical and urged believers to trust in God’s ability to provide for their needs.
He prayed for God to open new opportunities for the congregation and make them “suppliers” to others, just as He provided for the widow of Zarephath.
“God protects everyone who is willing to give in His house. He always watches over them, blesses them, and His grace is always sufficient for them,” he said.
He encouraged the congregation to remain faithful, give their best to God and become partakers of His blessings.
