Accra, Aug. 06, GNA – The Government of Ghana has organised a National Interfaith Memorial Service at the University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), in memory of the victims of the August 6th, 2025, Military Helicopter Tragedy.
The service is part of the activities marking the First Anniversary of the tragedy, which led to the death of eight eminent Ghanaians.
In attendance at the event on Thursday, is President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Members of Parliament, Ministers of State, Government officials, family members and well-wishers.
It would be recalled that exactly a year ago on August 6, 2025, Ghana was plunged into a state of mourning by the tragic military helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region, that claimed the lives of distinguished eight public servants and gallant officers of the nation’s Armed Forces while on a national duty.
They included Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Minister for Defence and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Member of Parliament for Tamale Central.
Others are Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, the Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr Samuel Sarpong, the National Vice Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Mr Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation.
The rest are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, all of the Ghana Air Force.
