Sunyani (Bono), Aug. 21, GNA – Asphaltic works on the 34-kilometre Sunyani Outer Ring Road project, being undertaken under the Government’s “Big Push” road infrastructure initiative, have commenced, with work progressing steadily on sections of the project.
A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the project site revealed that the spreading and levelling of chippings had begun on the Fiapre Roundabout stretch of the dual-carriage asphalt road.
President John Dramani Mahama performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the project on December 21, 2025, under the “Big Push” initiative aimed at boosting economic growth, reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity within the Bono Regional capital.
In an interview with the GNA, Mr Kofi Kamkam, Site Engineer of Kofi Job Company Limited, the contractor executing the project, expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and assured the public of quality delivery.
He indicated that the company was committed to completing the project ahead of the stipulated two-year contract period.
“You can now see for yourself the progress we are making in the chipping work. This is to pave the way for base work and combusting before we begin the actual asphalting works,” he explained.
Mr Kamkam commended stakeholders, particularly residents and traditional authorities in the affected communities, for their cooperation and support since the commencement of the project.
He also appealed to motorists and residents to exercise caution and avoid activities that could obstruct construction work.
The road project links communities including Fiapre, Nanketewa, Old Abesim, Old Odomase and New Odomase, while connecting to the main Sunyani-Berekum and Sunyani-Abesim highways.
The project is expected to improve transportation, enhance mobility, and support socio-economic development within the municipality and adjoining communities.
