Assemblies of God Ghana Executive Presbytery Holds Leadership Training Conferences in The Gambia

Accra, Aug. 10, GNA – The Executive Presbytery of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, led by the General Superintendent, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has conducted two capacity-building conferences for pastors and church leaders in The Gambia as part of an apostolic visit.

The first conference was organised for pastors affiliated with The Gambia Assemblies of God Mission, while the second was a non-denominational pastors and leaders’ conference that attracted about 250 participants from the Christian community in The Gambia, including missionaries from the USA Assemblies of God.

The conferences focused on strengthening leadership and ministry effectiveness among church leaders.

Topics discussed included Servant Leadership, The Power of Unity, The Essence of Audacious Faith in Achieving the Leader’s Vision, and The Role of Prayer in Transformational Leadership.

The resource persons were Rev. Wengam, Rev. Ernest Birikorang, General Secretary of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, and Rev. Simon Abu Baba, General Treasurer of the church.

In keeping with his tradition during apostolic visits, Rev. Wengam presented gifts to pastors and their spouses who attended the conferences.

The male participants received Ghanaian smocks, popularly known as fugu, while the women were each presented with pieces of cloth.

The gifts were personally sponsored by Rev. and Mrs. Wengam.

Rev. Paul Ampofo Williams, host of the conference and National Head of The Gambia Assemblies of God Mission, described the impact of the training programmes and the presentation of gifts as unprecedented.

He said the conferences had inspired and motivated pastors and church leaders to intensify efforts towards the expansion of the Kingdom of God.

Rev. Williams expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, for the initiative, noting that the knowledge and encouragement received would have a lasting impact on ministry work in the country.

The Gambia Assemblies of God is the first foreign mission field established by the Assemblies of God, Ghana. The church was planted about 30 years ago under the leadership of the late Rev. Simon Asore, then General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana.
