Asawase gets additional football park

Kumasi Aug. 31, GNA — Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, the Interior Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has inaugurated yet another multi-purpose AstroTurf mini-stadium for the people in the constituency. 

The latest park is the third astroturf facility delivered in the constituency within a span of just one and a half years since he assumed office as a Minister of State. 

The other two completed facilities were inaugurated at Akrum Highlanders Park and Aboabo Middle ‘B’, both located within the constituency. 

The new facility features a modern astroturf football pitch complete with dressing rooms and spectator stands, alongside a multipurpose field designated for basketball, tennis and volleyball. 

Known as the Dogo Moro Multipurpose Mini Stadium, the project represents a major milestone in efforts to advance sports, recreation and broader community development in Asawase.  

It is expected to serve as a vibrant hub for sporting activities, youth development, leisure and other community engagements, while contributing meaningfully to the overall growth and transformation of the area. 

In his remarks during the commissioning ceremony, Alhaji Muntaka reaffirmed his commitment to positioning Asawase as a focal point for grassroots’ sports development.  

He emphasized that leveraging sports as a potent instrument for youth empowerment, social cohesion and economic opportunity remained crucial. 

The MP noted that the facility underscored yet another pledge to effective, people-centered leadership, political will, and a clear developmental direction for the citizens. 

He further stated that three additional projects at Sawaba, Adukrom and Boubai were at various stages of completion and were expected to be inaugurated before the end of the year. 

Alhaji Muntaka urged the community to cultivate a strong culture of maintenance for the facility to ensure its longevity and sustained value to users. 

He was joined at the event by the Mr Ben Abdallah Alhassan, the Municipal Chief Executive for Asokore Mampong; and Mr Abubakar Sadiq, the Municipal Chief Executive for Old Tafo, together with religious and traditional leaders, members of the Old Footballers Association and other stakeholders.
