The NPP National Officers Elections Committee said the purchase or collection of a nomination form did not, by itself, constitute a valid nomination or candidature.

An aspirant would become a nominee only after properly filing the completed nomination form and accompanying documents within the prescribed period, subject to vetting and other processes required under the party’s constitution and election regulations, it said.

Filing of completed nomination forms commenced on Sunday, August 23, and will close on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

The nominees will subsequently be vetted from Monday, August 31, to Thursday, September 3, 2026.

The committee said the date for balloting had not yet been fixed because it wanted the filing, vetting and possible appeals processes to be completed before determining the final field of candidates.
