Wenchi MP cuts sod for education, health projects

Wenchi, (Bono), July 15, GNA – Alhaji Seidu Haruna, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wenchi Constituency in the Bono Region has performed a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of some educational and health projects in the area. 

They comprise the execution of a Kindergarten block with changing rooms, playing grounds and an office and store at the Abotareye Municipal Assembly Basic School as well as the construction of Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Akete. 

Speaking at separate ceremonies at the beneficiary communities in the constituency, Alhaji Haruna said he was funding the projects through his share of the MP’s National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) fund as well as the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND). 

He said the execution of the projects reflected his dedication to tackle the needs of the constituents. 
The MP noted that the CHPS compound was strategically positioned at Akete, a farming community, to serve the rural population. 

Alhaji Haruna called on the contractors to speed up so that the projects would be completed and handed over for use on time. Madam Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, the We

nchi Municipal Chief Executive noted that the construction of the Akete CHPS compound would advance the implementation of the government’s Free Primary Healthcare policy. 

She said the policy was designed to enable the rural dwellers to also access basic health and maternal care services.
