Tema, July 27, GNA – The Tema West Municipal Assembly (TWMA) has donated assorted food items, beverages and an undisclosed amount of money to the Tema Traditional Council to support this year’s Homowo Festival.
The donation was led by Mr Ludwig Teye Totimeh, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), as part of the assembly’s annual support to the Traditional Council ahead of the festival.
The items presented included maize, palm oil, fish, bottled water, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as an undisclosed cash donation.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the presentation, Mr Totimeh said the assembly considered it important to support the people of Tema in celebrating their annual festival in appreciation of the cordial relationship between the assembly and the Traditional Council.
He described the Traditional Council as an important stakeholder in the development of the municipality and said the assembly would continue to strengthen its partnership with the council for the benefit of residents.
Mr Totimeh said the donation was also to seek the blessings and prayers of the traditional authorities for wisdom, good health and peace to enable the assembly to continue implementing development programmes in the municipality.
“The support is our way of identifying with the Traditional Council during this important celebration and acknowledging their continuous support for the work of the Assembly,” he said.
He wished the chiefs and people of Tema a successful Homowo Festival and urged the youth to celebrate peacefully and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the festivities.
Mr Totimeh also encouraged residents to uphold the values of unity, respect and discipline to ensure an incident-free celebration.
