Nkwanta (O/R), July 27, GNA – Mr Sylvester Nkrumah, the Moderator of the Nkwanta Peace Mediation Committee has called on the youth of Nkwanta to embrace mediation, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence as the only path to securing a brighter future for the Municipality.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency during an interview Mr Nkrumah, who was also the former director of the Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation (GILLBT), acknowledged the youth as the future leaders of the municipality and should not allow themselves to be manipulated into acts of violence and destruction.

He said when young people permitted themselves to be used by individuals pursuing selfish interests, they risked destroying the very future they were expected to inherit and lead.

He said they should rather choose dialogue and mediation over violence and must protect the future by embracing peace.

Mr Nkrumah observed that the prolonged unrest in the municipality had resulted in significant losses, disrupted livelihoods, slowed development, and created hardship for many residents.

He also noted that the conflict had affected families, businesses, education, and the general wellbeing of the people, making it imperative for all stakeholders to work towards lasting peace.

He urged the leaders of various factions to instill positive values on the youth instead of encouraging actions that led to destruction and division.

“We are enjoying the legacy left behind by those who came before us, and in the same way, we have a responsibility to leave behind a peaceful and prosperous area for future generations, ” he added.

Mr Nkrumah called on all the residents, particularly the youth, to reject violence, support ongoing peace mediation efforts, and work together to restore lasting peace and development in the area.

He also expressed optimism that with sincere dialogue, forgiveness, and collective commitment, the municipality could overcome its challenges and regain its position as a peaceful area where development and unity thrive.
