Three killed in latest Israeli attacks on Gaza, Palestinians say

Tel Aviv, July 2, (dpa/GNA) – At least three people have been killed in new Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian officials said on Wednesday.

The Hamas-run civil defence authority said two people were killed in an airstrike in north-west of Gaza City, while a third died in a separate strike on a car in the city centre. The Israeli military said the targets were armed militants.

Israel has increasingly announced operations, aimed at killing suspected members of the militant groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip.

A ceasefire has officially been in place in the Gaza Strip since October last year. Nevertheless, Israeli attacks and armed incidents continue to occur.

Since the start of the ceasefire, more than 1,000 people have been killed, according to the Hamas-controlled health authority. Many of them were civilians not involved in the fighting.
