Accra, July 21, GNA – The Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has encouraged Members of Parliament (MPs), to comply with the law regulating the installation and use of sirens on their vehicles.
In a statement on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, Mr Bagbin indicated that his Office had received a directive from the Minister of the Interior, urging MPs to respect regulations governing the use of police resources, escort services, and sirens.
He emphasised that MPs must ensure responsible use of state resources and adhere strictly to the law.
He explained that the measure is intended to promote road safety and protect the interests of the public.
Mr Bagbin cautioned that legislators who defied the directive would have the sirens removed from their vehicles.
The directive forms part of efforts to regulate the use of emergency devices and ensure that such privileges are not abused, thereby safeguarding both road users and the integrity of state institutions.
Mr Bagbin said his Office would welcome legislators who intend to seek clarification on the directive.
